Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 14, 2026
1. Overview
BLDLINE ("the App") is a music-discovery application that maps the musical lineage of artists — their influences, peers, and the artists they went on to influence. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Our guiding principle is data minimalism: the App is designed to work primarily with information stored on your device, and we do not sell your personal data.
2. Information We Collect
On-device data. Most of your activity in the App — such as artists you have explored, cards you have collected, Challenge Mode scores, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device. This information does not leave your device in the normal course of operation.
Spotify account information. If you choose to connect your Spotify account (for example, to generate playlists from the connections you discover), the App uses Spotify's official OAuth sign-in flow. We receive only the access tokens and profile fields required for the features you enable. We do not receive or store your Spotify password.
No sale of personal data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. How Information Is Used
Information handled by the App is used solely to:
- Display artist lineage maps and related sourced evidence;
- Generate Spotify playlists at your request;
- Save your collected artist cards, Challenge Mode progress, and rankings;
- Maintain and improve basic app functionality and stability.
4. Third-Party Services
Spotify. Playlist and music-metadata features are provided through the Spotify Platform and are subject to Spotify's own Privacy Policy. When you connect Spotify, you authorize the App to access the Spotify data scopes required for those features. You can revoke this access at any time from your Spotify account settings.
If future versions of the App introduce additional third-party services (for example, analytics or crash reporting), this policy will be updated to describe them before they are enabled.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Because most App data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App. If you have connected Spotify, disconnecting the App from your Spotify account revokes our access tokens.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including OAuth 2.0 for Spotify authentication and on-device storage for app data — to protect information handled by the App. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we design the App to minimize the data at risk.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will be revised when we do, and material changes will be communicated in the App or on this page before they take effect.
9. Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices can be sent to the developer via the contact information listed on the BLDLINE App Store page.
